Psychological support and occupational therapy in a client-centered approach, Sigma Therapies Perth

Sigma Therapies' Client-Centered Approach

No Waitlist - Immediate Availability for our NDIS Services:

In delivering our therapy services, the process is all about you. We take a holistic, client-first approach to help you achieve your goals. From the very first conversation to the moment you reach your milestones, we focus on understanding your unique needs and delivering tailored support.

01.  Initial Consultation

Getting to Know You

We start with a free 15-minute phone consultation to understand your story. This no-obligation chat allows you to share your challenges, ask questions, and discuss what you’re looking for in therapy.

We listen attentively and with empathy, ensuring you feel heard and understood from day one. By the end of this conversation, you’ll know how we can help and what the next steps will look like.

02. Assessment

Comprehensive, Holistic

Once you decide to work with us, we conduct a thorough assessment that looks at all aspects of your life and wellbeing – not just a single symptom or issue. Our experienced psychologists and occupational therapists work with you (and your family or carers, if appropriate) to really understand your needs across daily functioning, mental health, and goals for the future.

This might include formal evaluations (for example, psychological assessments or functional capacity evaluations) as well as informal conversations about what’s important to you. We “look at your whole life from different angles” because a challenge in one area can affect other areas too.

03. Personalisation

Tailored Therapy Plan

After the assessment, we collaboratively develop a tailored therapy plan just for you. We sit down with you to set clear goals and outcomes that you want to achieve, whether it’s managing anxiety, improving social skills, increasing independence at home, or all of the above.

Depending on your needs, we will recommend the right blend of services and supports – for example, weekly psychology sessions, occupational therapy for skill building, or Positive Behaviour Support strategies for challenging behaviors.

This plan is holistic and coordinated: our team members work together so that each therapy session complements the others. You’ll know who you’ll be working with, what we’ll focus on, and how it will help you progress. We make sure you’re fully comfortable with the plan and understand how it meets your needs.

04.  Collaboration

Whole-Person Therapy

With a plan in place, we move into therapy sessions and interventions – this is where the real change happens. Sigma Therapies takes a team-based, whole-person approach to care.

What does that mean for you?

Our therapists collaborate behind the scenes to make sure all your needs are being met in unison. You’re not just seeing a Psychologist in isolation or an Occupational Therapist on their own – you have a united team working together on your behalf.

For example, if you’re working on anxiety in counselling, and it’s affecting your daily routine, our psychologist and occupational therapist will coordinate to integrate stress management techniques into your morning routine at home.

Sessions are always client-centred – meaning we check in with how you’re feeling and adjust activities to your comfort level and priorities each time. You might meet in our welcoming clinic offices, or we can come to your home if that’s where you’re most at ease (we serve all Perth suburbs and even offer Australia-wide telehealth).

Our flexibility ensures therapy fits around your life, not the other way around. Throughout the process, our clinicians provide a supportive, compassionate space where you can openly communicate. We encourage questions, feedback, and active involvement from you in each session – you are the most important member of the team!

05. Monitoring

Ongoing Support & Adjustment

Our commitment to you doesn’t stop once therapy sessions begin – continuous support and improvement are built into our process. We track your progress closely against the goals we set together, celebrating your wins and identifying any hurdles. At regular intervals, we’ll do more formal check-ins or reviews (for NDIS clients, this can align with plan reviews or mid-plan checkpoints) to measure outcomes in areas like independence, wellbeing, and daily participation. We’ll talk with you about how you feel things are going: what is improving? What still feels challenging? Is there anything new we should focus on?

Using your feedback and these progress measures, we adjust your therapy plan as needed. If something isn’t working as well as hoped, that’s okay – we’ll tweak the approach or try new strategies, always with your input. We might consider introducing a different therapy technique, bringing in another specialist, or changing the frequency of sessions.

We’re here for ongoing support or future tune-ups whenever you need—even after you achieve your initial goals. We aim to equip you with tools and skills to thrive independently, but you’ll know we’re just a phone call away if new challenges arise.

We’re with you for the entire journey
