At Sigma Therapies, we provide Education and Training for Carers to equip them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to provide high-quality care for individuals with disabilities or special needs.
Our tailored training programs are designed to support carers in managing the daily responsibilities of caring for a loved one, ensuring the well-being of both the individual receiving care and the carer.
Whether you are a family member, support worker, or professional caregiver, our Occupational Therapists offer practical and evidence-based training to help you provide the best possible care.
Our Education and Training for Carers programs are designed to provide carers with the tools and strategies needed to manage a wide range of physical, emotional, and practical care needs.
From understanding mobility assistance techniques to managing challenging behaviours, our training sessions are tailored to the specific needs of the individual receiving care. Delivered by experienced Occupational Therapists, our training empowers carers to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care while also ensuring their own wellbeing.
These programs can be delivered in-home or online to ensure accessibility and convenience for carers.
Our Education and Training programs are specifically designed to help carers in the following ways:
Our Education and Training programs are personalised and designed to address the specific needs of both the carer and the individual receiving care. The process typically involves:
Initial Consultation:
We begin by discussing your role as a carer, the challenges you face, and the specific needs of the individual you’re supporting. This helps us tailor the training to your situation.
Personalised Training Plan:
Based on the consultation, we develop a tailored training plan that covers the areas where you need the most support. This may include physical care techniques, communication strategies, or emotional support skills.
Practical Training Sessions:
Our Occupational Therapists provide hands-on training, either in-person or online, to ensure you are confident in applying the skills and strategies needed for effective care. This can include demonstrations, guided practice, and real-life scenarios.
Support with Assistive Technology:
If the person you care for requires assistive devices or equipment, we provide training on how to use these tools safely and effectively to enhance their independence and well-being.
Ongoing Support and Resources:
We offer continuous support and follow-up training to ensure that you feel confident in your role as a carer. We also provide resources and advice to help you stay informed about best practices in caregiving.
At Sigma Therapies, we understand the vital role that carers play in supporting individuals with disabilities. Our experienced Occupational Therapists are committed to providing carers with the practical skills and knowledge they need to deliver high-quality care while maintaining their own well-being.
Our training programs are personalised, accessible, and designed to make caregiving safer and more effective for everyone involved.
Our team has extensive experience working with carers and individuals with disabilities, ensuring that the training you receive is practical, effective, and based on evidence-based practices.
We take the time to understand your specific needs as a carer and the unique challenges faced by the individual receiving care, ensuring that the training is relevant and personalised.
We offer training in-home or online, allowing you to receive support in a way that suits your schedule and convenience.
Caring for someone is an ongoing journey, and we provide continued support to ensure that you are equipped to handle changing needs and challenges over time.
Education and Training for Carers is not typically covered by Medicare.
However, these services may be funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for eligible participants.
If you are a carer of an NDIS participant, you may be able to access training services through their NDIS plan. We recommend discussing your funding options with your NDIS planner or support coordinator to confirm eligibility.
